Meraxis: Katrin Volery joins the Board of Management

Muri b. Bern (Switzerland), March 1, 2021 – Katrin Volery is being appointed today to the Board of Management of the international polymer distributor Meraxis AG as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) by the Board of Directors. Volery has many years of experience as an HR manager in various global companies. As the fourth member of the Board, she will work on developing cultural change and digital working processes and help push ahead with Meraxis’ growth course.

“The fact that the HR management has now moved to management board level reflects the hugely significant part that our employees play for Meraxis”, says Katrin Volery. “My major wish is to support and promote the further development of every individual and to create a modern corporate culture.” Volery has been working with Meraxis as “Global Group Head Human Resources” since October 2020 and is responsible for international HR management. In this function, part of her task has been to initiate the development of a group-wide HR strategy and to further advance cultural change within the trading group, which was created by a merger in 2019. As CHRO, she intends to take this as her starting point and strengthen interdisciplinary exchange within the company even further in the future. “My aim is to bring colleagues from various departments closer together and to combine their expertise. A company that is still as young and innovative as Meraxis thrives on the ideas and abilities of its employees – and we want to become even more agile in this respect in the future.”

For Meraxis, its cooperation with the HR and organizational expert is a real benefit, emphasizes Dr. Stefan Girschik, CEO of Meraxis: “Katrin Volery is a top HR-leader with many years of international experience as a manager and business partner who knows how to drive change processes forward. With her on the Management Board, we will be able to analyze existing working processes, create space for collaborations and develop further digital solutions for flexible working throughout the world. I am absolutely delighted at her appointment and would like to congratulate her most warmly.” Alongside Dr. Stefan Girschik and Katrin Volery, the new Management Board consists of Philipp Endres (Deputy CEO) and Marco Zahnd (CFO).

Even before she joined Meraxis, Volery worked in various global corporations, supporting mergers, developing and implementing strategies and taking management responsibility for complete sites and countries. In her role as Head HR EurAsia at Solenis, a US manufacturer of special chemicals, for example, she supported the joint venture between Solenis and BASF’s paper and water chemicals business. Before this, she was head of HR Active Ingredients at Syngenta, a global company manufacturing agrochemicals and seeds. At Mercuria Energy Trading S.A., a distributor of crude oil, natural gas, electricity, diesel and agricultural products, she built up the HR department and introduced a global payroll program along with health and pension plans. “Above all, it is her wide range of intercultural experiences that make Katrin Volery so valuable for us at Meraxis”, says Girschik.
